Shared Resource Acknowledgement

MCW Cancer Center Shared Resources must be acknowledged when their services or expertise contribute to research, regardless of how those services are funded. These acknowledgements help document Shared Resource use and impact.

When to Acknowledge a Shared Resource

  • Basic scientific advice and consultation
  • Fee-for-service technical help
  • Standard fee-for-service analysis
  • Minor material support, e.g., cells, antibodies, DNA
  • Boiler plate Methods write-up


Authorship Considerations

When Shared Resource directors or staff make substantial intellectual or collaborative contributions, authorship may also be appropriate. The Shared Resource should still be acknowledged.
