About Us

Message from the Director

Gustavo Leone, PhDAs a cancer researcher and Director of the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center, I have the privilege of working alongside people who are dedicated to answering some of the most challenging questions in cancer. Every day, our scientists, physicians and staff work together to deepen our understanding of cancer and translate discoveries into better ways to prevent, detect and treat the disease. Just as importantly, we are committed to reducing the disparities that affect cancer outcomes in Wisconsin and beyond.

Cancer is personal to me. Like so many others, I have lost family and friends to this disease, and those experiences continue to shape my commitment to advancing cancer research. Today, our work focuses on areas where we believe we can make the greatest difference—from understanding why cancer affects some communities more than others to developing more precise treatments, harnessing the immune system to fight cancer and uncovering the biology that drives tumor growth.

I am continually inspired by the many people who make our shared commitment possible—from our scientists and clinicians to our community partners, patients and donors. Their passion and commitment remind me every day why this work matters.

Thank you for your support and partnership.
